The Lodge

Our seven acre hillside lodge is located on Calabash Bight on the eastern end of the island of Roatan. Calabash Bight, the English word for Bay, is a mile long and offers access to both sides of the island. Ridge Ranch Lodge's location is unforgettable, we own the largest ridge on Calabash Bight and our backyard is the Port Royal National Park This 2643 acre preserve is an ecological paradise and is home to the only remaining island deer population in the Caribbean.

The national preserve is the most unique pristine wilderness in the Bay Islands. It's diverse topography supports a wide variety of plants and animals as the land transitions from tropical forest at sea level to the pine forest of Eastern Roatan's mountains. This diversity of Flora and fauna is unique in the Bay Islands.

From our breeze swept vista, we can view across the sea, the mountains of the Honduran Mainland, the Cochinos Islands, and the southern shore of Roatan. This southern shore includes the English settlement towns of Jonesville and Oak Ridge and all their amenities are only a short boat ride away.

Nestled on a tropical hillside, Ridge Ranch Lodge is an oasis from modern day living. Our property harkens back to another age. In keeping with the history of the area and the lay of the land, Ridge Ranch is fashioned after a turn of the century sugar plantation estate. Ridge Ranch is situated on, as you guessed it, a ridge, and catches a constant prevailing breeze. This keeps our property 5-10 degrees cooler than the sea level salt wind.

Staying at Ridge Ranch provides a serene experience away from the hustle and bustle. The lodge is constructed with high vaulted ceilings in the style of the many plantations that used to inhabit the island. This special architecture provides large airy living spaces and helps keep our guests cool. The centerpiece is the Great Room, a spacious salon that traditionally was the family gathering place. Select a book from our library and relax in a hammock, grab a cd or dvd from our collection, or watch cable tv. The parlor is set up as a game room, where you may play pocket billiards, shoot darts, play cards, or one of our many board game boards. Outside there is a playground with a picnic area, horseshoes, sandbox and a swing. As you stroll the grounds, have fun looking for bananas, cashews, breadfruit, papaya, peppers, pineapples, and a wide selection of beautiful native flowers.

As you enter the bedrooms through the beautiful French doors the first thing that you notice is that the appointment of the room reflects the natural wonders just outside the window. The rooms are spacious, with high ceilings, and are paneled in native pine with louvered mahogany windows and hardwood floors. The beds are all queen size, our sheets are all Egyptian cotton and each room has a large airy bathroom with fresh springwater showers. Each room has a mini refrigerator and coffee service featuring Honduras finest Copan coffee. In the custom of the islands, a pitcher of Ice Water will be set out for you each evening before you retire.

While there are a myriad of things to do at Ridge Ranch Lodge, many of our guests take pleasure in just having quiet time to themselves. Swing in your own hammock, soak in the view, and listen to the birds as each room has its own private balcony, and an unobstructed view of the tropical forest.
