We have three motorboats
for fishing and cruising Calabash Bight, our mile long bay, or up and down the
coast. Sail away on our 22 foot Catalina sloop. The conditions on Roatan
are ideal for
this
size boat. The prevailing winds are very gentle and anything other than 1
to 2 foot swells are the exception rather than the norm.

Excellent for combining sailing, snorkeling or exploring a

Mangrove Tunnel Ecotours
Ridge Ridge Lodge is surrounded by
extensive mangroves, just minutes way by boat.
We offer a unique aquatic ecotourism experience as you can take our cayuca for a
guided tour of the three different types of mangroves that found in and around
Calabash Bight. The different types of Mangroves are Red
(Rhizophora Mangle),
Black (Avicennia Germinans)
and White (Laguncularia Racemosa)
and they are an ecological wonderland. Mangroves span from salt to
brackish to fresh water and provide a haven for wildlife. Shrimp breed
under this protective canopy and provide ample nourishment for many species of
fish and birds. Our mangroves offer prime viewing of pelicans, frigates,
three species of herons, and many other species of tropical birds. The
experience is an adventure as you travel through dense tunnels of intertwined
trees that shield the water from the sun and create a habitat that is 10 to 20
degrees cooler than the land.
